    AUTHORITY AND JURISDICTION: By its authority granted in the 1983 Georgia Constitution, the Laurens County Board of Commissioners hereby establishes the requirement of a building permit to be obtained prior to the construction of any new business or home. This regulation shall apply to all unincorporated land located within the boundaries of Laurens County, Georgia. PERMIT INFORMATION: The applicant shall provide at a minimum the physical location, name of owner, type of construction, square footage, number of bathrooms, siding, and number of bedrooms. EROSION AND SEDlMENTATION CONTROL: Best management practices to include mulching and silt fence installation shall be used to prevent sediment from leaving the building site. A crushed rock construction entrance shall also be installed in the driveway area of building site within a subdivision. FEES: The fee to be charged for the building permit is $100.00 for all mobile and modular homes. The fee to be charged for an Addition/Out Building/Carport will be $25.00. The fee for a residential structure is $0.25 per heated square foot with a $200.00 minimum. These fees may be amended by majority vote of the Board of Commissioners. VIOLATION OF ORDINANCE: Any person violating any provision of this Ordinance shall upon conviction be guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be subject to such penalties as are provided by law. LIABILITY: The Ordinance shall not be constructed as imposing upon the county any liability or responsibility for damages to any person or property caused by defect in the construction process. Nor shall the county or any official employee be held as assuming any such liability or responsibility by means of this ordinance.

Business Permits will be $25.00 - Mobile Home Permits will be $100.00 - Residential Permits will be 0.25 cents multiplied by the heated square footage.
